Craft Day - How to make a Felted Bracelet.

So, you think you want to felt.
Today's project is the perfect place to start.
This felted bracelet is easy to make
and as you become more advanced in your
felting you will be able to use this basic
pattern and make many different
 and wonderful bracelets.
To start, you will need a few basic supplies:
A felting mat, multi felting needle,
a piece of crafting felt (you choose the color),
two colors of roving in the same color tones as
your felt, one button and embroidery thread.
Let's get started!
Cut your felt into a 8in.long x 2in.wide strip.
Place your cut piece of felt onto your
felting mat. Pull some of your roving so that it looks
long and lightweight. Place your roving on top of your felt.
Start pushing your roving into your felt with your
multi felting needle.
Continue placing and pushing your roving into your felt.
Turn your piece over and felt the back side.
Lightly push the fuzzy pieces of roving that are
hanging over the side of your felt to the opposite side.
Use your felting needle and push them into your felt strip.
When you are finished your felt strip should look
like the one above. By using the different colors
of roving you are giving your bracelet depth of color
and strength.
To give your bracelet a little more stability as well as
a decorative edge we will use a simple embroidery
stitch called the button hole stitch.
Push your needle though the felt,
make a loop, place your needle through
the loop, pull gently as you make your next stitch.
Do this stitch all the way around your felt strip.
Now you are ready to add your button and loop.
Tack three 4in. pieces of embroidery thread
to the bottom, back side, of your bracelet.
Braid these pieces together. When you have about a 2in.
braid, run each thread one at a time through the
front of the bracelet and back to the back of the bracelet.
Make a knot in the back of the bracelet.
Place your bracelet on your wrist, wrap it
around your wrist to find the prefect placement
 for your button.
Sew on your button.
Your first felted bracelet is complete.
Congratulations!
Tomorrow I will show you how to make a
felted butterfly that you can add to your bracelet.
