Yesterday we made flowers out of old belts. Today lets make a necklace.
The belt that I have chosen is satin. It is solid on one side and it has a print on the other side. You can use any belt or fabric you would like.
To start you need to make your flower. Make it just like the flowers we made yesterday.
After I made my flower I had fabric left over. I used the left over fabric to make the neck part of my necklace.
To do this, find the middle of your left over belt. Keep the two lose ends hanging free. Take one end and tie a knot about three inches from the bottom. Do the same on the other side. Keep on tying knots. Go from one side to the other, progressing up, until you have your desired length.
It is now time to sew on your flower. Make sure your necklace is long enough to fit over your head or sew a snap onto the back of your flower.
I let the two ends show underneath my flower giving the appearance of two leaves.
Now time for some embellishment. I chose two different size crystals, in three different colors. I hand stitched my crystals so that they are positioned in between the knots of my necklace.
This is a easy fun project. Give it a try. Make one like this one or change it up and make it your own. Have fun creating!
