The idea for these napkin rings started with the idea of recycling. We all have stuff, right! I used things I already had in my studio.
I started with a cardboard tube left over from the center of wrapping paper. You can also use toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls.
Start by marking your paper roll every 1 1/2 inches with a marker. Use an exact-o knife and cut circles out of the paper roll.
Once you have your circles cut out you will need some burlap.
Cut a 4 inch by 6 1/4 inch strip from your burlap.
Using a glue gun, place a strip of glue onto the paper roll. Place one end of the burlap on the glue.
Put a strip of glue onto the burlap end you just glued. Bring the other end up to the glue and press the to ends together.
Place glue in the middle of the inside of your paper roll. Tuck the burlap down onto the glue.
Place glue on top of the burlap in the middle of the ring. Tuck the burlap inside on top of the glue.
Now you have the base of your napkin ring.
For the decoration I used yarn that looks like moss and pieces of nature.
Place yarn on the inside seam of the napkin ring and glue. Tie yarn around the the outside of the napkin ring.
Glue your pieces of nature on top of your napkin ring.
Your napkins rings are finished.
Have fun creating your own napkin rings. You can use any fabric or embellishments.
Use what you have on hand and watch your napkin rings evolve.
