This is a Tomato Sphinx or Waved Sphinx.
I'm kind of laughing because my husband recently retired from the tomato business. Farmers are not real fond of these caterpillars. I understand why after seeing what one Sphinx can eat in a two day period.
The Sphinx is also known as a hornworm. He will one day be a brown or gray moth. I am always amazed by the life cycle of the moth and butterfly.
