Shell Box's

Shell Box's have been made for many years.
Sailors made them for their loved ones at home while they sailed the seas.
Thus, the name, "Sailor's Valentines" came to be.
When families traveled to the seashore they would pick up sea shells, take them home and make a shell box as a memento of their trip.
On the book case in our island home there sit several shell boxes. Each box has been crafted with a special person in mind.
My first shell box was  made for the love of my life.
I gave this box to my husband on valentines day.
When the top of the box is lifted
you will see a picture of our three children and a blue ribbon that says "cherish".
Sitting inside the box are small framed pictures of each family member.
There are also little tokens with hearts and various sayings and red glass lips.
Jay's valentine.
This box was made for my oldest son. The top of the box is a mirror with a pewter piece that says,"What one loves in childhood stays in your heart forever."
Inside this shell box you will find inspirational words on the ribbon that lines the box. Words like laugh, enjoy, support, cheer, happiness, funny, lovable and so on.
This box also holds little trinkets that relate to my son Jeremy.

Rachel's shell box is a little pink flip-flop with small brass feet walking across the base of the sandal,
giving a small hint as to what might be inside.
"Footprints"
"When you saw only one set of footprints, that was when I carried you."
Mac's box has a black and white theme.
With a black and white fish, black and white ribbon and black cording.
Inside this box is a ribbon that says" follow your dreams" and small trinkets of things that represent  Mac.
Shell box's can take some time to make but when your making them for people you love
it really is a lot of fun.
