Craft Day-Felted Pumpkins

Happy Halloween!
Lets make felted pumpkins.
These sweet little pumpkins are fun and easy to make.
To start you will need a few supplies:
Styrofoam balls
Felt and roving in pumpkin colors
Felting needles
Scissors
Felting Block
My Styrofoam balls are 1, 2 and 3 inches.
You can use what ever size you would like.
We have all of our supplies, let's start making pumpkins.
You can cover your pumpkins in two ways.
1.You can lay your styrofoam ball
on pieces of felt and cut out a circle.
With your felting needle start poking
the felt into your styrofoam ball.
Keep doing this until the felt is around the ball.
You will end up with two raised pieces.
Cut these pieces off with your scissors.
Places these pieces back onto the ball
where there is white still showing.
Continue to felt in these pieces.
Once your ball is completely covered cut out leaves
from your green felt.
Place these leaves onto your pumpkin.
Use your felting needle
and start poking your leaves into your pumpkin.
Place a little roving on top of your pumpkin
to make your vine and stem.
Felt them into your pumpkin.

2. The second way to make these pumpkins is to
use roving for your base.
To do this all you need to do is place a small amount
of roving around your pumpkin.
Then start felting the roving into your Styrofoam ball
 with your felting needle.
For your leaves place a small amount of roving on the top
of your pumpkin, start poking the roving into your pumpkin
forming the shape of a leave.
Make a curly stem by placing a small amount of roving between damp
fingers. Rub your thumb and forefinger together
like you are making a snake with clay.
Place this long twisted piece of roving onto your pumpkin
and felt it down at the base of the vine.
With a little black roving or felt your pumpkins
can become Jack-O-Lanterns.

Placing felt or roving around a Styrofoam ball allows you
the option of shaping your pumpkin.
By lightly pressing your pumpkin you can
give your pumpkins a little character.
Have fun creating your own little pumpkins!
