Green Stoneware Pottery-Jardiniere

Jardiniere's have been  produced by many different American potteries over the years. In the pictures below I will show you some examples of McCoy pottery.
The glaze on these Jardiniere's are a blended gloss. You will see color ranges of brown, green and yellow.
This Jardiniere was made by McCoy and produced in the 1920's.
You will see a lot of McCoy glazes go from brown to green, but there is always an exception.
The  Jardiniere and Pedestal set above is not McCoy. We know this because of the weight,  the top edge and the glaze. This glaze is glossy and blended but it is more of a Weller or Majolica glaze.
I love this Jardiniere and Pedestal set. It has a raised daisy design and a brown to green glaze.( My favorite flower and favorite color.)
Have a wonderful week of favorites.

Tip

Have you ever had a wonderful dinner party only to find your candles have dripped wax onto your table cloth?
Don't panic,  I have a little tip for removing wax from a washable table cloth.

First you need to remove as much wax as you can from the table cloth.  Use your    finger nail  or a narrow flat surface to gently loosen the wax. You must be careful not to press the wax deeper into the cloth .
Once you loosen the wax, lift off as much of the wax as you can with your fingers. What can not be lifted with your fingers can be  vacuumed. Make sure to use a light touch while vacuuming.
Use your finger nail and scrape the remainder of the wax off of the table cloth. Spray OXI CLEAN on the remainder of the wax residue. Wash your table cloth in cold water,  then let it air dry. Your wax should be gone with no residue.
Your table cloth is now ready for your next party.

Studio clean up

Two days ago I walked into my studio and backed out, Yikes!
I work in so many different mediums that sometimes things just get out of control. There was no way I was going to get any work done until I did some serous cleaning and organizing.
This is not the fun part of what I do. It is on the other hand very necessary. One can not function well in the midst of a hurricane. I had stuff everywhere, beads, yarn, purses,  jewelry, box's, books, etc.
I put my metalworking benches towards the front of the studio. They are set up in a triangle, jewelers bench, soldering table and work table.
The back half of my studio is where I do my beading as well as my mixed media projects. There is a little bit of everything here.
I tried very hard to work my fibers into this space, there is just not enough room. That will be a project for another day. For now.......
All the hard work has paid off. I now have a clean and organized space in which my creative juices can flow.

Vintage Baskets

Below my Great- great- great- grandmothers keepsake shadow box, sits a collection of vintage sewing baskets.

My vintage baskets are three different sizes. They all are woven, with a slightly raised bottom.
All of the baskets have wonderful glass bead work. The two larger baskets have silk tassels, old coins, and bows.
The two larger baskets also have hand painted glass beads that could fit on ones wrist.
These baskets have a nice rim on the inside that helps to keep them closed. The medium size basket also has glass beads and old coins formed in a star design.
My favorite of all these baskets is the smallest. This wonderful little basket demonstrates it's original use. It not only has the silk tassels and beads, but tied to the end of a beaded string you will find vintage scissors.

Rachels Brithday Scarf

Today is a big day for my daughter Rachel. Happy twenty fifth!!!!
 Wow how did that happen?
Rachel's freeform scarf is  knitted and crocheted. It's freeform, so there are no patterns or rules. Love it!!!!
This is a great project for scrap yarn.
I used size 35 knitting needles and a size 13 crochet hook.
I'm sorry I did not take pictures while making this scarf. In the future I will blog a scarf like this in greater detail.
Last night I was walking around my yard with a headless mannequin and a crazy scarf around my neck. It's 90 degrees out. My neighbors must wonder about me.
I know I was wondering. There I was walking and moving about with my headless friend. I started smiling then I just laughed.
A few months ago I did not even know what a blog was. Now I'm so in to it I'm running around my yard with a headless mannequin.
Crazy? Who cares. I'm having fun I hope you are too. Have a happy day!
Side note...Happy Anniversary Colleen and Craig!
