It's Christmas Time-Making Ornaments

We all love sharing time with family at Christmas.
Here is a craft the family can do together.

I came up with this ornament idea when I found a basket full of old C.D's and two old hymnals that I wanted to repurpose.

Rachel,my daughter, and I have an ornament exchange every year with girl friends. This year we are making these ornaments as our party favors.
To start this project you will need
C.D's, paper ( we used an old hymnal ), spray adhesive, Modgpodg, glue stick, glue gun, glitter, jump rings, subject pictures (such as old cards scarp paper what ever you have on hand), things to embellish your ornament with( ribbons, beads, sequins, rhinestones etc.), clear spray acrylic

Instructions
First lay your  C.D's on the hymnal music or the paper you chose for your ornament back ground and trace around your C.D.
Once you have your circles drawn cut them out.
You will need two circles for each ornament.
Lay your C.D's out on some paper or what ever you have around the house. I used some packing paper from a package I had just received the day before.
You need to make the C.D's tacky. To do this I used a spray adhesive.
Spray your C.D's. Place one of your music circles on top. Press the music so that there are no creases or wrinkles in the paper. Let them dry a few minutes.
Lay out new paper for spraying. Turn your C.D's over, place them on the new paper. Spray the C.D.s with your spray adhesive then put a paper circle on top.
Your ornaments are now ready for holes. I used my drill press to do this but you can use a flex shaft, dremel or a drill, use what you have. Drill two holes one at the top of your ornament and one at the bottom.
It's time to start building your collage. Cut out the images that you want on your ornament, glue them on with a glue stick or a little modgpodg.
On some of our ornaments we added a little paint to the edges by gently rubbing an ink pad on the edges. If you want to do some stamping, do it now or before you put your picture onto the ornament, depending on the look you would like to acheve.
To add glitter, paint a coat of modgpodg onto your ornament, then put the glitter were you want it.
 Let this dry.
Turn your ornament over.
You can decorate this side or just put on a coat of modgpodg.
Let this dry. Spray your ornament on both sides with clear acrylic spray.
Once your ornaments are dry you can add embellishments, such as ribbon, rhinestones, rickrack etc.
A glue gun will work well for this.
Put your jump ringings in the top and bottom of your ornaments. For your hanger, run your ribbon through your top jump ring and tie it.
If you wish you can add a little something to the bottom of you ornament.
Our ornaments are finished, and hanging on the christmas tree.
Have fun creating these Christmas ornaments with your family and friends.
Happy Holidays!
